Mrs. Karen

Art Teacher

Biography:

"As far back as I can remember, I was always the happiest "in the zone" when creating something.  I took my first art lessons outside of school when I was in second grade and I have never stopped my pursuit of expanding my visual communication skills. For many years, drawing was my tool to help my interior design customers visualize their dreams before I made those dreams a reality. Now my dream is that I use my art skills and knowledge to open the hearts and minds of my students to the mystery and magic of creating and communicating with the visual arts."

Degrees:

BA in Art from the University of NC Greensboro.

AA Interior Design American River College, Sacramento, California

Certified Window Treatment Specialist from the WCAA.

Why did you get into teaching?

"Since having my own children, I have been actively involved in their lives by teaching Sunday school, leading girls scouts and boy scouts, and training children to sing. I finally felt truly called to teach art full time in order to improve the lives of children and to have them enrich my life in return."

Expectations or rules for students:

"Be prompt, be prepared, be polite, and be productive".

How long have you been teaching?

"This is my third year teaching in Trenton".

Past schools you have taught at:

"I was a substitute teacher for two years at various secondary schools in the McKinney ISD and the Frisco. ISD".
