SENIOR SCHOLARSHIPS
2006-2007
*Voice of Democracy Scholarship. Scholarships are awarded on the local, district, state and national level with the top award being $30,000. Open to students in grades 9-12. Award based on original 3-5 minute essay recorded on tape or CD based on theme: Freedom's Challenge. Deadline: Nov. 1, 2006
*Horatio Alger Association Scholarship. Awarded to students who show financial need and have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal adversity, commitment to pursue a bachelors degree, and be a U.S. Citizen. Scholarship range in value from $1,000-$20,000. Deadline: Oct. 30, 2006
*Earle North Parker Essay Contest. Awards range from $150-$1000. Deadline: Dec. 9, 2006.
*Prudential Spirit of Community Awards. Award based on community service activity completed after Sept. 1, 2005. Deadline: Oct. 27-to Mrs. Snow.
*Coca-Cola Scholars Program. Awards range from $10,000 to $20,000 and are targeted for well-rounded students from across the nation. Apply at www.coca-colascholars.org. Deadline: Oct. 31.
*Carr Academic Scholarship. Awards range form $2,000-$6,000 at Angelo State University with priority given to those of high academic ability. Application available at www.angelo.edu. Deadline: Feb. 1, 2007.
*Texas Engineering Foundation Scholarship. Awarded to engineering majors. Must have 3.0 GPA, 600 Math and 550 Verbal on SAT or 29 Math and 265 English on ACT. Deadline: January 15, 2007.
*Texas Student Housing Scholarships. Housing scholarships in the amount of $2,500 offered in TSH off-campus facilities. Incoming freshmen may apply for scholarships in Austin, College Station and Denton. Deadline: January 31,2007.
*National Commission for Cooperative Education. 175 scholarships are available at participating colleges. Information and application can be found in at www.co-op.edu. Deadline: February 15, 2007.
*Sam Walton Community Scholarship. $1,000 scholarship awarded for student's first year of college. Information and instructions found at www.walmartfoundation.org. The access code (SWCS) must be used to access this application process. Deadline: January 12, 2007.
*AXA Foundation Scholarship. $10,000 scholarship awarded to 52 students and $15,000 additional scholarships to 10 national recipients. Scholarships are awarded to students who set and reach ambitious goals, demonstrate drive, determination and ability to succeed in college and who have respect for self, family and community. *Collins Scholar. Applicants must meet all requirements for Baylor University, have a 1250 SAT or 28 ACT, have completed a college prep program in high school, and be in the top 25% of their class. A scholarship of $3900 each year renewable for four years will be awarded. Deadline: January 31, 2007.
*Access to Education Scholarships. Up to 50% of the $1500 scholarships will be targeted to students who, in addition to financial need, are members of ethnic minority groups or are physically disabled. May apply at www.usafunds.org/scholarship. Deadline March 15, 2007.
*Barbara Jordan Historical Essay Competition. First prize: $2500, 2nd prize: $2500, 3rd prize: $1000. For more details see www.utexas.edu/world/barbarajordan. Deadline: March 5, 2007.
Hat Youth Scholarship. A $500 scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who has been involved in equine activities. Application can be found at www.hat-texoma.org and click on " youth program." Deadline: April 15, 2007.
*TX Dot Conditional Grant Program Maximum award is $3000 each semester. Students must plan to enroll in 4-year college or university and major civil engineering, computer science, or information technology. *Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship. Awards based on equitable geographic distribution, ACT/SAT scores, class rank and GPA. Deadline: March 15, 2007.
*Sam Houston State University Freshman Leadership Program. All candidates must have been accepted to the university and score at least 1030 on SAT or 22 on ACT. Award is $500 per semester. Deadline: March 5, 2007.

*Dr. Lisa Strokes Scholarship Award. Recipient must be a current or former patient of Dr. Strokes. Scholarships are awarded on merit in the amount of $500. Deadline: March 5, 2007.
*Glaser Family Charitable Foundation Scholarship. Students must have a GPA of 2.5 and grants are available to all levels of post-secondary education, including vocational and technical training schools. Application copy in counselor's office or from www.gfcf.org to request packet. Deadline: Feb. 23, 2007.
*Goodwill Scholarship. Students must have financial need or other disadvantaging conditions, be committed to a college degree or clock hour program at a college, university or vocational/technical school. Up to 12 scholarships in the amount of $1,500 will be awarded. Deadline: March 1, 2007.

*McKelvy Foundation Scholarship. Apply online at www.mckelvy.org to qualify must attend a 4-year college or university, own and operate a genuine business, have at lease one employee. Deadline: Jan 31, 2007.
*Daniel B. (Bryan) Deupree Scholarship. Awarded to seniors graduation from high schools in Fannin County. Call 903-961-3001 to request an application. Deadline: March 1, 2007.
*GCC Scholarship various scholarships offered by Grayson County College. Deadline 15, 2007.
*Wilson N. Jones Medical Center Foundation Community Scholarship Twenty-five $1000 scholarships will be awarded. Must have GPA of 2.5, enroll in minimum of 12 college hours, and complete at least one college class in healthcare field. Deadline: March 5, 2007.
*Balanced Man Scholarship Oklahoma Sate U will award freshman man who exhibit academic excellence, leadership skills and commitment to health and well being a scholarship in the amount of $250-1,000. Deadline: April 23, 2007.
*Educational communications scholarship foundation 61 scholarships will be awarded. Students must be US resident and demonstrate academic ability. Deadline: May 15, 2007.
Visual Arts Scholarship at GCC. Scholarship in the amount of $100-300 per semester will be awarded to visual arts major who maintains 2.5 GPA and has willingness to fully participate in visual arts program. Deadline: not given.
*Theatre Scholarships at GCC. Scholarship will be awarded to drama major who maintains 2.5 GPA and has willingness to fully participate in the drama program. Deadline: not given.
*Music Scholarship at GCC. Scholarship in the amount of $100-300 pre semester will be awarded to music majors who maintains 2.5 GPA and has willingness to fully participate in the music program. Deadline: not given.
*President Leadershop Praogram at GCC Student must have 3.2 high school GPA, 23 ACT or 1070 SAT, and previously held a leadership role. Deadline 1, 2007.
*Business and Professional Women's Scholarship Several scholarships offered to area students who need assistance. Deadline: April 15,2007.
*Texas Tech Alumni Association Scholarship Academic scholarships awarded to students who demonstrate academic achievement, honors, activities and some degree of financial need who plan to attend Texas Tech. Deadline: May 14, 2007.
*Verne Cooper Foundation Scholarship Scholarships totaling $105,000 will be awarded to students attending trade or technical schools in addition to colleges and universities. Deadline: May 1, 2007.
*Texas trial lawyers association scholarship Need-based scholarships in the amount of $1,000 or awarded to seniors statewide. Application can be downloaded at www.ttla.com. Deadline: March 20007.
*Association for Compensatory Eduacatiors of TX Twenty $1,000 scholarships will be offered to students who have language, economic and other barriers and have at some time been enrolled in a compensatory education program. Deadline: March 26, 2007.
*Kohl's Cares for Kids Scholarship Over 1,600 students will receive more than $200,000 for post-secondary education. Scholarships are awarded based on community service. Application at www.kohlscorportation.com. Deadline: March 15, 2007.
*Texas Telephone Association. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded. Applicants must have 3.0 GPA, and plan to attend a Texas college or university. Deadline: March 12, 2007.
*Barbara Franklin Cancer Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship offered to women between the ages of 18 and 25 who have experienced loss due to the death of their mother. Motherloss in not restricted to cancer. Contact Marsha Evans at mee2@tx.rr.com. Deadline: April 30, 2007.
*Fannin Co. TX A&M Club. Eligibility limited to Fannin Co. seniors who will be entering TX A&M University-College Station in the fall of 2007. Deadline: May 15, 2007.
*Don't Mess with TX Scholarship. Open to 2007 TX high school graduates who plan to attend an accredited 2 or 4 year college or university in TX. Applicants should have taken a leadership role to prevent litter in their schools or communities. Deadline: April 6, 2007.
